It was another beautiful Saturday, the kind where the weather behaves itself for once. No cold, no drama, just vibes. We packed our duffel bags stuffed with camping essentials for three, looking like we were smuggling half a supermarket. Its a Motorfun staff out in the wild. Bonding with nature, testing gear, and pretending we’re serious route‑crafters for upcoming motorbike tours.

I had company, Denis and Daisy. Daisy rolled in on her Kibo 250, while I flexed my legendary 30 plus year‑old Honda Transalp XL 400 V (with a 650 engine, because why not?). If you know me, you know I live for these Frankenstein builds. Denis, on the other hand, doesn’t ride. He’s convinced motorcycles are possessed. He refused our Voge Rally 300 and chose to be a pillion.
Side note: we’ve got two Voge Rallies up for rental . Denis clearly doesn’t want them, but maybe you do.

The Route: Lower Kabete – Kikuyu – Karinde – Karen/Ngong Junction – Ngong – Suswa. We stopped at a supermarket in Ngong for supplies, then grabbed lunch in Suswa town while reconnecting with our guide. A Total of 135 Kms one way
That’s where the tarmac taps out and the adventure kicks in. A 22km climb into Suswa Hills. It’s technical but doable 45 minutes of “please don’t stall here.” Any bike can hack it, but let’s be honest, proper dual‑sport tyres make life easier.
Entrance fees: Ksh 1000 per person, Ksh 300 per bike. Pay up, wave your receipt at the gate, and you’re in. We’d booked our campsite in advance, a scenic spot with sunrise views that could make even Denis forget he hates motorcycles.
We spent the late afternoon snapping photos, setting up tents, and lighting a bonfire. Dinner was cooked under the stars, followed by games around the fire. Internet here is basically a myth. One weak signal spot where you can maybe send a text. That’s how we missed Morocco vs Brazil. But hey, we came for nature, not football heartbreak.

Day 2: Sunrise walk around the crater, breakfast, pack‑up, and back to Nairobi by 4 PM.
